Earlier this week, I heard via the radio that Soundgarden was IN the studio currently working on new material for 2011. I am both skeptical and excited to hear this great news. I am excited to hear this because I could spend days or weeks trying to figure out if they would be going in a different direction with the music they make or would they stay the same and give us some of that sweet old grunge sound we have come to enjoy in the part, either way I am excited and eager to hear what ever they come out with. This was inevitable for Soundgarden to go back into the studio and compose a new album, ever sine the band reunited in 2010 to play a couple of select shows since 1997.
Getting to the skeptical part, one of the main reasons why the band broke up in the first place was that the band did so much touring, it did not leave them time to write new material. By making this new album and going back on tour, I am a little concerned that the band will fall back into the constant touring and break up again. Regardless, hopefully we will be hearing new Soundgarden this year.
