Un-American Idol
Once again American Idol is back on the television. Randy, Simon, Kara are all back and are joined by new comer Ellen DeGeneres, together this foursome will judge, critic and praise everyday joes who think they have what it takes to become a pop superstar.
I hate American Idol.
The show is fake and I refuse to watch it. They take people and send them to stardom before you even know what happens. I’m much more of an old fashion guy, I want to see a band get together, play local shows, build a fan base, travel across the country, and gain some respect from people who want to listen to their music and not from. Then be discovered by a label and sent to stardom. Being voted on in a crazy free for all is not how people should discover new talent and new music. Go to local shows check out touring bands, find a band you love and figure out who inspired them. Don’t give into this I beg of you.
I actually have a friends sister try out for American Idol, she has a wonderful voice and a very accomplished jazz musician. She often opens for Toney Bennett when he comes to New Jersey. So trying out for American Idol should be a shoe in right? Wrong! They actually told her that she was to good and to accomplished for the show and would make the other contestants look bad. I thought the show was a contest and they should be looking for the best of the best of the best for the contest. Not the people who are  just ok.
Listen to me watching American Idol and participating in the events is like selling your soul, I don’t know how to make this clearer.
