Happy New Year!!
After last week’s epic, I’m going to keep it short and brief. Here are the bands I’m keeping an eye on over the coming 12 months.
They’ve just mastered their debut EP and if the quality of the demos they’ve released via Twitter are anything to go by, it’ll be fantastic!
A Chagstock discovery, their debut album is never very far away from my CD player and I even used one track at the end of my MA documentary. Mainstream enough to make a big splash once record labels get over their outside-of-London snobbery but niche enough to allow the lead singer to wear bright pink cords on stage!
Psychedelic indie rock!
These guys definitely deserved a bigger crowd on the boat stage at Beach Break Live, their single Jenny Jones has been played on the E4 hit drama, Skins and my personal highlight is Fear of the dance.
Their debut EP, Jenny Jones, is on iTunes now!
She supported Seth Lakeman in Chesterfield and reached the final of the 2009 BBC Young Folk Awards, she is definitely one to watch in 2010. A truly incredible singer, she brings the stories to life with a dynamic performance.
He’s hit the big time since I interviewed him back in March. Winner of the Red Stripe Music Award and now embarking on a solo tour, he can silence crowds with just his acoustic guitar and beguiling voice.
The three-piece from Cornwall have impressed crowds across the country and are currently working on their debut EP as well as organising future tours. With solid performances composed of entirely their own work, they are a force to be reckoned with!
But what about you? Which bands do you reckon will hit the big time in 2010?
Please, let me know!
