What do you want from 2010?

by Jameson on December 31, 2009

Tomorrow is January 1st 2010, a whole brand new year for music. All kinds of things could happen in this new year. There are a few things that I am looking forward to in 2010. The first being the reunion of Something Corporate. Now for those people out there that do not know who Something Corporate is they are a band from southern California. They put out their first album, Leaving Through the  Window while I was in High School. I would describe them as a piano rock band, think very early Coldplay. Around 2004 they went on hiatus. Thinking that they would never come back, espically since two of the members have moved on to other bands, I was more than extatic to hear that at Bamboozle west they would be getting back together. The rumor is also that a small tour will follow after Bamboozle , Oh I can only hope and pray that they make it to Boston.
In  2010 we will finally learn how The Amory Wars began. Yes that is right kids a new Coheed and Cambria album, entitle Year of the Black Rainbow, will be released. Now as to what they title means is anyones guess. I’m still having trouble trying to follow the story of Coheed and Cambria as they fight the Monstar (for those out of the loop each Co&Ca album is actually part of a space saga, just like Star Wars in which there are characters and plots, only told in song form). This album also comes with a 300+ page book, hopefully that will help you understand exactly what is happening in the Co&Ca universe.
Alkaline Trio will be releasing a new album titled This Addiction. Personally, I love The Trio however I feel that their last album Agony & Irony was kind of a let down. I also really thing that Matt Skiba has plateaued as a guitarist which just makes me sad. Lyrically however ALK3 never disappoint me, and I’m sure this album will have plenty of death, drugs, alcohol and heartbreak on it too.
Blink 182 is another band that is suppose to be releasing a new album. Now that we live in a post reunion world will Mark, Tom and Travis be able to make the magic happen in the studio again. Also since it has been 7 years since the last album was released, one can only wonder what the guys will cook up in the studio. I loved the sound of their last album and hope they continue in that direction. However in Angels and Airwaves Tom is delay happy and I am curious as to how much of that will make it’s way into the new album.
New Found Glory is re-releasing their self-titled album with 7 new tracks. The self-titled album turns 10 in 2010 (doesn’t that sound nice, 10 in 2010). In addition to releasing the album they are taking a page out of Jimmy Eat Worlds play book and will be going on tour playing the entire album beginning to end. Now I love that album and those songs, but there is just some mystery that is lost when you know the exact songs a band is going to play and the order that they are going to be played in. Saves the Day is supporting them.

Well those are the events I am looking most forward to in 2010, what are yours?
