Bud Gaugh, founding drummer of Sublime, posted a new interview on the bands Myspace page. For those unfamiliar with the history of Sublime the band broke up with the death of frontman and lead singer Brad Nowell. Since the death of Nowell the remaining members of Sublime have gone through several different incarnations such as the formation and eventual break up of Long Beach Dub Allstars, Long Beach Shortbus, Eyes Adrift and Volcano none of these bands ever achieving the kind of success Sublime did in the mid to late 90s.
However Sublime is back!!!
Bud Gaugh posed
“It’d be great to get back into the studio and make some new music. It’d be great to tour again. But we’re taking it a step at a time and as long as each step feels good, then we’ll keep on going. One major project under development that we’re psyched about is code-named “Brad’s House.” The idea is to provide free service to underprivileged teens in Brad’s honor. The entire Sublime family was devastated by Brad’s loss and we would like to help prevent that from happening to others. The band has agreed to allocate proceeds to get this started. We’ll begin with one facility but our hope is that we can get other bands and organizations to join us and we can eventually scale it all across the country.”
The return of Sublime has not come without some controversy. The use of the name Sublime has been challenged by Silverback Management’s Jon Phillips and the estate of Brad Nowell.
The new lead singer of Sublime is Rome Ramirez, he has announced that they will be writing a new Sublime record for 2010.
